20 Best 5-star Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City is one of the two most important cities in Vietnam, along with Hanoi. The city is the economic center of the country known for its modern skyscrapers, bustling nightlife, and rich cultural attractions.

Hotel Continental Saigon is a historic 5-star hotel located in the heart of district 1 of HCMC right on the posh Dong Khoi street (formerly Catinat Street).

The US military held daily press briefings at 5 pm. The reporters jokingly called it the “Five O’Clock Follies” because they believed the information provided wasn’t entirely accurate. The hotel lobby still displays some historical images from that period.

8. Hotel Grand Saigon

Hotel Grand Saigon is one of the city’s oldest hotels located on Dong Khoi street. The hotel was opened in the 1930s, renovated a few times but still retained its original colonial french architecture.

This 5-star boutique hotel is located on Huan Nghiep street, a step away from Dong Khoi street and Nguyen Hue Walking street. It’s also very close to the Saigon River.

The hotel itself is like a living art gallery museum where you can see hundreds of contemporary Vietnamese artworks, in the hallways, the rooms, elevators, and restaurants. If you’re an art lover or just simply love beautiful things, you must choose your stay in Hôtel des Arts Saigon.

The hotel has 23 floors and 168 rooms. Each room is decorated with different art works. The hotel also has a rooftop area with an infinity pool và Social Club Rooftop Bar. They’re a great spot to have a drink and soak in the views of the city.

Hôtel des Arts Saigon has three onsite restaurants. The Saigon Kitchen on the 2nd floor is where you can eat buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It has the atmosphere of the old Indochine streets.

The Café Des Beaux – Arts on the ground floor is a great spot to enjoy afternoon tea with the combination of French and Vietnamese cuisines. The Social Club restaurant on the 23 floor is where you can try European food.

In addition to the hotel’s onsite restaurants, you can find plenty of places to eat near the hotels on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Tran Cao Van, and Ly Tu Trong street. Some trendy cafes and famous Vietnamese restaurants are within a short walk from the hotels.

The location is relatively central for me. But for some people, it’s not as central as district 1, but again you can enjoy the local atmosphere while still within a short distance to the heart of the action. It’s a must visit for art lovers and culture vulture.

This is a popular 5-star hotel centrally located in district 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, within a short distance from the famous Ben Thanh Market. The streets around the hotel are lined with tourist amenities such as restaurants, massage shops, travel agencies, bars, and cafes.

Pullman Saigon Centre Hotel is located in a great location at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao and Nguyen Cu Trinh Street. It’s just a block away from the famous Bui Vien Walking Street, so you’ll be away from loud music and parties but still within a short walk from the action.

The area around Pullman is packed with tourist facilities, so you’ll be a step away from a wide range of restaurants (Vietnamese, foreign, and fast food chains). There are hundreds of choices on Tran Hung Dao, De Tham, and Bui Vien street near the hotel.

Pullman was opened in 2014, featuring 30 floors, 3 basements, and 306 rooms and suites. Rooms ranging in size from 34 to 160m2 with contemporary art deco style.

19. La Vela Saigon Hotel

This 5-star hotel is located in district 3 and is best known for its large infinity pool with letter P shape. It’s located on the roof of the 27 stories building, offering panoramic views of the city.

The hotel is located in a residential area in district 3, offering a quieter and less touristy atmosphere than district 1. It’s set on 280 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street, district 3.

The hotel is just a few minutes Grab taxi ride to popular points of interests such as Ben Thanh market, Independence Palace, War Remnant Museum, Big Church, Nguyen Hue Walking street, and Bui Vien walking street.

The location of the hotel is also a bit closer to the airport, so it’s quicker and cheaper to reach the hotel from the airport compared to district 1.

Another highlight of the La Vela Hotel is the buffet breakfast at the Mermaid restaurant. It has a diverse selection of dishes including Vietnamese, Japanese, and western dishes. The breakfast area has inside and outside seating, with stunning views of the Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe canal and the city skyline. 

In addition to the swimming pool, the rooftop terrace is also home to the bar where you can enjoy the drinks and the views of the city. It’s especially beautiful at sunset and at night. 

La Vela has nearly 300 rooms, and a wide range of options including deluxe and luxury rooms, and a presidential suit. I had a good time staying at the luxury Deluxe Double room, which has a bathtub and stunning views of the city.

Overall, La Vela is a good option for those who are looking for an affordable 5-star experience with some of the best rooftop pools in the city and nice breakfast.

20. Fusion Original Saigon Centre

Fusion Original Saigon Centre is modern boutique luxury hotel located inside Takashimaya Mall at  65 Lê Lợi, district 1. You can easily access everything within the building such as restaurants, cafes, and shops without traveling too far.

The hotel has a central location, right next to Saigon Square and 5 minutes walk to Ben Thanh market. All other attractions within walking distance or short Grab taxi ride to the hotel.

The hotel was opened in 2022 with 146 rooms. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped with a safe, a working table, and private bathroom.

It has an infinity pool on the 6th floor with views of district 1. Staying at the hotel, you can have free access to California Centuryon Fitness, which is the top gym center in Vietnam.

The onsite restaurant Miss Thư has traditional Vietnamese style, offering an authentic atmosphere. They serve both Vietnamese and foreign dishes.  

There are also dozens of restaurants inside the mall below the hotels, so you can have plenty of choices in addition to the hotel’s restaurant.
