In my experience, the top 2 best areas to stay in Ho Chi Minh City with kids are The City Center, which include District 1 and District 3.
District 1 is the tourist center of the city and is the most popular area to book your accommodation. Staying here will put you in the middle of the action, close to everything.
District 3 offers more local atmosphere while still being located within a short Grab ride from major attractions. District 3 is quite large, so I recommend booking a hotel in a part of district 3 that borders district 1 for easy access to important landmarks.
District 1 is also quite a huge district. If your family wants a trendy and upscale atmosphere, I recommend staying around the Nguyen Hue and Dong Khoi area. If you want a backpacker vibe and lively nightlife scene, I recommend staying around Pham Ngu Lao and Bui Vien area.
The area around Ben Thanh Market is also a bustling area in district 1 where you can find a range of family-friendly hotels. Many 5-star luxury hotels of HCMC are located in district 1. No matter where you choose to stay, you can easily get around with an affordable Grab ride.

1. La Vela Saigon Hotel

La Vela Saigon Hotel is a popular hotel in district 3 of Ho Chi Minh City. I stayed at La Vela for a few nights and I recommend it for those who want a kid-friendly hotel with a beautiful breakfast buffet area and a huge rooftop terrace with an infinity pool and sky bar.
The rooftop terrace is the highlight of the hotel. It has a large outdoor swimming pool and a sky bar, offering sweeping views of the city’s skyline and Saigon River.
The hotel has mixed reviews but I personally think it is an affordable 5-star hotel (a true 4-star hotel) in central Saigon. It’s a popular hotel for local Vietnamese.
It’s close to the airport and a short taxi ride to all major attractions in the city central area. I paid only 140k VND for a Grab taxi from Tan Son Nhat airport to get to the hotel.
Other major attractions such as Bui Vien Walking Street, Ben Thanh Market, Nguyen Hue Walking street, The War Museum, Independence Palace, The City Hall, Post Office, and the Big Church are only a short Grab ride away.
The breakfast buffet at La Vela has an extensive selection of dishes and is kid-friendly. You can choose from Vietnamese to Japanese and Western food.
The restaurant is located on the 25th floor and has stunning views of the city and the Ben Nghe – Nhieu Loc Canal.
We stayed in a Deluxe Double room. The room was spacious with a quality king bed, bathtub, a sofa, and had stunning city views.
The hotel is in a local area, so you will have a more local atmosphere and less touristy feels. Everything is all within a short Grab or Green SM ride from the hotel.
Overall, La Vela Saigon Hotel is a good choice for families who want a local, quiet area, not far away from major tourist sites, and an impressive rooftop pool, and large selection of breakfast.

Address: 192 Pasteur, district 3, Ho Chi Minh City.
I had a good experience staying in two different rooms in Orchids Saigon Hotel and highly recommend it for families who are looking for a quality 4-star mid-range hotel in a relatively central location.
This hotel has a good location, in a quiet area in district 3, easy access to major tourist attractions and amenities. It’s in district 3 but borders district 1, so you’ll be within walking distance to many things.
I walked to popular places such as Ben Nghe Street Food, Independence Palace, War Museum, Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, and Book Street.
If you don’t want to walk, you can easily use Grab or Green SM, which are a cheap and convenient way to get around. It is especially helpful if you want to avoid the heat.
I stayed in both rooms on the second floor, one with street views and one opposite the lift. I prefer staying away from the lift though. My room has a bathtub and shower, with a nice bed and sofa area.
Your family can choose to stay in a Family Suite with City View. This room has two double beds and can accommodate up to 4 family members.
Orchids Saigon Hotel has a small but lovely swimming pool, enough to cool you down on hot days. The breakfast area is on the ground floor and has a nice selection of dishes, fruits, and drinks.

Address: Corner Nguyen Du and Le Van Hue St, District 1, HCMC.
JW Marriott Hotel and Suites Saigon is a popular 5-star hotel located in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. It is a great base for sightseeing, shopping, and enjoying the nightlife.
The hotel is located very close to The Book Street, Central Post Office, and The Big Church. You’ll also be within walking distance to the trendy Nguyen Hue Walking street and Dong Khoi walking street to visit the City Hall, Opera House.
These areas are upscale parts of the city, so it creates a safe environment for families and kids. There are dozens of shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars close to the hotels, so you don’t have to travel too far to get to these tourist amenities.
This JW Marriott Hotel has all facilities that your family would need for a comfortable stay in Saigon. They have an outdoor swimming pool, breakfast buffet, a gym and multiple on-site restaurants.

But, if you want to avoid the heat, there are plenty of cheap Grab and Green SM rides from the hotel to these popular points of interest.
Park Hyatt has French colonial-style, beautiful rooms with modern amenities. Other facilities include a swimming pool, multiple restaurants and bars, and excellent services. Some rooms are around 110 sq.m, which creates lots of spaces for families.

If you like good views of the city, you can choose to stay on the high floor. Pullman has interconnecting rooms with a double bed and two single beds, which is comfortable for a family of four.

Sherwood Residence is family-friendly apartment style accommodation, conveniently located on Pauster street in district 3 of Saigon. It’s a quiet residential area but still an easy distance to major tourist sites.
It offers one, two, and three-bedroom apartments with separate living areas and kitchens. This is a good value for money hotel for families who prefer staying in apartment-style hotels.

I personally like staying in district 1, particularly around Nguyen Hue and Dong Khoi area for the trendy atmosphere. But there are also tons of nice hotels in district 3 and you still have easy access to the most popular points of interest.
