Da Nang is the third largest urban area in Vietnam, only after Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. It is home to an international airport and a train station making it easily accessible by air and by road.
Da Nang, like many other cities in central Vietnam, has two seasons: Dry season and the rainy season.
- Dry season (January to August) – the city has little rain, hot temperature, and clear skies. June to August are the hottest months of the year.
- Rainy season (September to December) – The city experiences frequent rains, high humidity, and cool temperatures. November to January are the coolest months of the year.

When is the best time to visit Da Nang?
The dry season, which is typically from January to August, is the best time to visit Da Nang. In my experience, the rainy season is not a good time to visit Da Nang for beaches, but it is still a good time for those who are on a tight budget and to avoid the tourist crowd.
If you visit during the dry season, you can maximize your time on sightseeing, outdoor exploration, beach activities, and festivals without worrying about the rain. Visiting Da Nang in the rainy season, you can find good deals on flights and hotels as well as explore the city with fewer tourists.
April to August is the best month to visit Da Nang for beaches. These months have warm weather, lots of sunshine, and little rain.
Da Nang in January

January is a good time to visit Da Nang for sightseeing, but it might not be the best time for swimming and beach activities. It is the end of the rainy season and beginning of the dry season. It is also the coldest month in the dry season with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 24°C.
You can explore Han River, Han Market, Son Tra nightlife, visit cultural attractions such as the Marble Mountains and Lady Budha. You can take day trips to Ba Na Hill, Hoi An, and Hai Van Pass.
January is the time when locals go shopping for the Lunar New Year (Tet holiday). If you visit the city during this time, you can experience a lively atmosphere with colorful flowers and flags on main streets.
January has pleasant weather, bring some light jackets and long trousers in case it gets cold, especially in the evening and early morning.
Da Nang in February

February is a great month to go to Da Nang outdoor activities and sightseeing. It is a part of the dry season and it is warmer than January. Temperature ranging from 20°C to 26°C, and very low rainfall. The beach can be a bit chilly for some visitors on some days, but you can swim at your hotel’s heated pools.
February is usually the month of Tet holiday. If you are visiting Da Nang during this month, you can join the Tet with locals and admire the colorful decorations with lots of flowers and kumquat trees. You can watch fireworks at famous bridges, join dragon dances, or temple ceremonies.
It can be cold in the evening, so I recommend bringing light jackets and sweaters to keep you warm. Be sure to book flights and hotels in advance if you travel around Tet period.
Da Nang in March

March is one of the best months to go to Da Nang. It has warm and dry weather, which is suitable for outdoor activities and sightseeing. March is warmer than February with temperature running from 22°C to 27°C. There is little chance of rain.
You can explore the city center with attractions such as Han River, Dragon Bridge, Love Bridge, and My Khe Beach. You can go shopping at many traditional markets and modern shopping malls such as Han market, Con Market, or Vincom Plaza.
At night, you can grab a drink at one of many trendy nightclubs and rooftop bars in the city. Son Tra night market, and An Thuong are great places to go for nightlife in Da Nang. For food, be sure to try regional dishes like My Quang, Banh Cuon Thit Heo, and Com ga.
Other cultural attractions are the Marble Mountains, and Linh Ung pagoda in Son Tra peninsula. Don’t miss out on the cable car ride to Ba Na Hill, day trips to Hoi An, My Son sanctuary, Hai Van pass, and Hue.
Da Nang in April

Similar to March, April is a great month to visit Da nang with warm weather and little rainfall. This is one of the good months to go to Da Nang for beaches. Average temperature is from 24°C to 30°C.
Visiting Da Nang in April allows you to explore usual things in the city including visiting cultural attractions, enjoy the beaches, go shopping at the market, try local food and take part in the vibrant nightlife.
If you travel to Da Nang around April 30th (Vietnamese national holiday), be sure to book your accommodations and flight ticket well in advance to have the best deals.
Da Nang in May

May is one of the best times to go to Da Nang. It has warm weather with lots of sunshine and low chance of rain, making it a great time to enjoy outdoor activities and beaches. Average temperature is from 25°C to 32°C.
I recently visited Da Nang in May, it was very hot and there was no rain. Temperatures sometimes reach 37°C. The beaches are packed with people in the early morning and late afternoon.
I recommend that you bring a hat, sunglasses, sun cream, and drink lots of water. To avoid the heat, you can explore cultural attractions from early morning.
May has several important days including the International Labor Day and Da Nang International Fireworks Festival. If you travel around this period, be sure to book your hotels and flights in advance.
Da Nang in June

June is one of the best times to go to Da Nang. It is one of the hottest months of the year, with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 35°C, sometimes reaching 40°C sometimes. There is also occasional rain to cool down the hot weather.
You can enjoy beach activities such as swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and jet skiing. You can visit cultural attractions, explore Ba Na Hill. Take note that June is one of the peak tourist months in Da nang, so be sure to be well-prepared for your hotels and flights.
As it is a hot month, I recommend applying sun cream frequently, drinking lots of water, bringing breathable clothing, and wearing a hat when outside.
Da Nang in July

Similar to June, July is one of the hottest months of the year and a great time to visit Da Nang for beach activities and sightseeing. Temperature ranging from 26°C to 35°C. July is summer vacation for the locals, so it can be crowded and expensive for hotels and flights.
To avoid the heat, you can do sightseeing and swimming at the beach in the early morning and late afternoon. Avoid going out at midday (11am to 2pm) to avoid heatstroke. Bring essentials for summer vacation such as sun cream, hat, sunglasses, and bottle of water.
Visiting Ba Na Hill is a great thing to do in Da Nang in July. You can enjoy the cool climate at the top of the mountains.
Da Nang in August

August is a part of the dry season, making it still a good month to visit Da Nang. It is also transitioning to the rainy season, so the city experiences a considerable amount of rainfall.
The weather is generally hot and humid during this month. The temperature ranges from 26°C to 34°C. It is the last chance to enjoy beach activities before the rainy season starts.
Da Nang in September
September is the beginning month of the rainy season in Da Nang. The city is warm and humid with temperatures ranging from 26°C to 33°C and drops at night time.
There are more frequent rains and less sunshine compared to previous months. There are the risk of typhoons toward the half end of the month.
Da Nang in October
October is one of the rainiest months in Da Nang. The city can experience flooding and storms, so be prepared for that if you visit the city during this month. This is also a quiet month with less international and domestic visitors. You can take advantage of cheaper prices for accommodations and tours.
Da Nang in November
Similar to October, November is a part of the wet season, so there is potential flooding. If you visit Da Nang in November, prepare for rainy gear such as rain coats and umbrellas. It can have around 20 rainy days a month, which means you can still have some sunny days for outdoor activities and sightseeing.
Da Nang in December
December is the last month of the rainy season in Da Nang, but it is still a good time to explore the city with less tourist crowds. It has less rain compared to November and has cool weather with temperatures ranging from around 18°C to 20°C.
