Best Time to Visit Mui Ne – Weather by month

My recent visit to Mui Ne is in early May. It was full of sunshine, hot, humid, with no rainfall. In this article, I will help you to look at the best time to visit Mui Ne, the weather of each month, and to see if there is any month to avoid this small beach town.

Mui Ne is a popular tourist destination in Vietnam, located only a few hours by bus ride from Ho Chi Minh City. It is known for its warm weather all year round, beautiful sand dunes and beaches.  

You can reach Mui Ne from nearby cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, and Nha Trang by road.  Sleeper buses and limousine buses run daily many times. The buses will drop you in the city center of Mui Ne.

You can also take the train from Ho Chi Minh City, but the train only stops at Phan Thiet Train Station, which is the closest train station to Mui Ne. It is located around 25 km away, and you’ll need additional transportations like taxis and buses to get to Mui Ne.

Mui Ne’s weather is generally hot, dry, with lots of wind and sunshine most of the time. Average temperature ranges from 25°C to 29° C. It has two main seasons: the dry season (November to April) and the rainy season (May to October).

Where is the Best Time to Visit Mui Ne?

Mui Ne is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit Mui Ne for pleasant weather is the dry season (November to April). These months have lots of sunny days and little rainfall, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities such as surfing.

The rainy season, from May to October, is the low tourist season. The town often experiences high humidity and temperature. Rain is short-lived and occurs in the afternoon. Be mindful that erosions can occur in the rainy season. Flash floods and storms can also occur from September to October.

I don’t think there are any months to avoid Mui Ne. You can alway adjust with weather conditions to have a nice visit to this small beautiful beach town.

January is a good month to visit Mui Ne. It has a pleasant temperature around 27°C, low humidity levels, strong wind, and minimal rainfall. You can see major sights in Mui Ne such as the white sand dunes, red sand dunes, fairy stream, fishing villages, and enjoy water sport activities.

Similar to January, February is a good month to go to Mui Ne. It has lots of sunny days with warm temperatures of 21°C to 30°C. Humidity is low around 70%. This is a good time to explore the sand dunes, fairy stream, and the beaches.

February is usually the Lunar New Year Time, so you can admire colorful decorations on streets and local houses. You can explore cultural attractions such as Ta Cu Mountain and Po Shanu Cham Towers.

March is one of the good months to visit Mui Ne. March has a bit higher temperature compared to previous months. It ranges from 22°C to 31°C, with lots of sunny days and little rainfall. 

Mui Ne in April

April is one of the hot months of Mui Ne. Temperature around 35°C and cooler at night. It is a good month for beach activities such as swimming and windsurfing. It is also transitioning from the dry season to the rainy season, so expect short downpours sometimes.

Similar to April, May is one of the hottest months of the year. This is the beginning of the rainy season in  Mui Ne, so it rains often. The wind is also strong, which is great for kitesurfing. 

I visited Mui Ne early May and it was very hot and humid, and there was no rainfall. I managed to see attractions in early morning and late afternoon, avoiding going out mid day when the sun is at its strongest.

I took a sun rise sand dunes tour which started at 4.30 am, and went back to the hotel around 10.30am. The jeep tour took me to the white sand dunes, the red sand dunes, the fairy stream, and the Mui Ne fishing village. 

I have lunch break at my hotel, then head to the Ta Cu Mountain and Po Shanu Tower in the afternoon. In the late afternoon, I checked out the Pineapple Beach bar for some sunset views. And have dinner at the Dong Vui food court in the evening.

May, in general, is hot and humid, with little rain, so you can maximize your time for beaches and sightseeing. Just be mindful of the heat, wear a hat, and apply sun cream often.

June is a hot month in Mui Ne, which is great for summer beach holiday. Temperature ranges from 24°C to 31°C. It is also in the rainy season, so there will be more rainy days compared to previous months. Rain is in the form of short-lived downpours in the late afternoon.

This is a low tourist season in Mui Ne, so you can easily find good deals in accommodations and enjoy famous beaches and attractions with less tourist crowds.

July is a hot summer month in Mui Ne with high temperatures and humidity levels. It is also the rainy season, so expect the rain in the afternoon. It is a Vietnamese school break holiday, so it can be busy with domestic tourists.

August is a part of the rainy season in Mui Ne. It still has high temperatures and more rainy days compared to July and June. 

Mui Ne in September

Similar to August, September is a hot month with more rainy days. Keep an eye on the weather forecast as short storms can occur  this month. The 2nd of September is a public holiday, so it can be busy with domestic visitors from Ho Chi Minh City.

October is the last month of the rainy season in Mui Ne. Temperature ranges from 24°C to 30°C. The weather is toward dry season weather at the end of October.

November is one of the great months to visit Mui Ne. It is part of the dry season with pleasant weather, lots of sunny days and good conditions for surfing.

December is a part of the dry season and is one of the best times to visit Mui Ne. It has dry weather with lots of sunshine and little rain. It is also a great time for windsurfing.
