Best Time to Visit Quy Nhon- Weather by month

Quy Nhon is off the beaten path beach destination in Vietnam. In this post, I will help you to look at the best times to visit Quy Nhon based on my experience and research. I will give you some weather of each month, things to do, and months to avoid.

Quy Nhon is located along the south central coast of Vietnam, between Nha Trang and Da Nang. If you travel between Nha Trang and Da Nang by road, you can consider stopping at this city for a night or two to experience the beaches and local life.

Quy Nhon is easily reachable by road and by air. It has an airport called Phu Cat airport, located 30 km away from the city center. The airport has daily flights from big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

It also has a train station called Dieu Tri Train Station, located 30 minutes taxi ride to Quy Nhon city center. You can take trains from other cities such as Da Nang and Nha Trang.

Quy Nhon has hot weather all year round, with average temperature around 27°C. It has two main seasons, the dry season (February to August) and rainy season ( September to January). The dry season has hot, dry weather with minimal rainfall. The rainy season has occasional heavy rains accompanied with thunderstorms.

When is the best time to visit Quy Nhon?

The dry season (February to August) is the best time to visit Quy Nhon. During these months, Quy Nhon has lots of sunny days, clear skies, little rain, ideal for sightseeing and beach activities.

If you are in Quy Nhon in the rainy season (September to January), you can have some good deals on accommodations and explore attractions without tourist crowds. You can still enjoy the beaches, but be mindful that sudden rains and big waves can prevent you from taking boat tours. 

September to November are the rainiest months in Quy Nhon. Storms can occur, so be sure to keep an eye on the weather forecast if you visit the city during the month.

January has pleasant weather with temperature from 15°C to 27°C. It has less rain compared to previous months but there will be some sudden drizzles. The beach will be cold some days and not suitable for water activities such as swimming.

This is low tourist time, so great for affordable accommodations and quiet holiday. It can be chilly in the evening, so bring a light jacket with you.

February is one of the good months to visit Quy Nhon. It is transitioning from rainy season to dry season, and the weather is getting warmer. Temperature ranges from 16°C to 29°C. It can also be chilly at night.

Early February is usually Tet Holiday (Lunar New year), which is great time to experience local culture. But be mindful that at this time, many restaurants and bunnies will close for a few days as most people will come to their hometown and spend time with their family.

March is one of the best times to visit Quy Nhon. This is part of the dry season that has mild temperature, dry weather, low humidity, and little rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities. Temperatures range from 18°C to 31°C.

This is a great time for cultural attractions such as Linh Phong – Ong Nui temple and Thap Doi Twin Cham Towers. You can explore the beaches in the city center, at Bai Xep, Ky Co, and Eo Gio. The colorful fishing villages of Nhon Ly and Bai Xep are also must-see.

April is a great time to go to Quy Nhon. This month is warmer than previous months, making it perfect for beach activities. You can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and watersport activities at popular beaches such as Quy Nhon City Beach, Bai Xep, and Ky Co Beach.

You can enjoy sightseeing without worrying much about the rain. Places to check out such as Ong Nui temple, Cham towers, fishing villages, and Eo Gio.

Around the end of April the 30th of April and 1st of May are public holidays. Lots of locals will go on vacation, so it can be busy during this time. As a result, the price of flights and accommodations can be higher than normal days.

May is part of summer and dry season, so it is a good month for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. Lots of locals are out at the beach in the early morning and late afternoon for swimming and cooler weather. 

It can be very hot and humid, so I avoid going out at mid day when the sun is at its strongest. Wear a hat, drink a lot of water, and apply sun cream often.

June is some of the hottest months of the year in Quy Nhon. This is also the start of the Vietnamese school summer holiday, so the city can be busy with local tourists. This is an ideal time for beach activities. You can go swimming at Quy Nhon City Beach, Bai Xep, or Ky Co (the Maldive of Vietnam).

Just be mindful of the heat when exploring. Pack breathable clothes, sun cream, a hat, and a bottle of water with you.

Similar to June, July is a busy tourist season in Quy Nhon. It is also hot and humid, so pack accordingly. This is a great time for beach activities and some outdoor explorations. 

You can explore Ky Co Beach, Hon Kho Island, Cu Lao Xanh Island, fishing villages, and sacred Temples such as Ong Nui Temple, Long Phuoc Temple, and Thien Hung Temple.

Similar to June and July, August is a hot month in Quy Nhon (temperare is from 30°C to 35°C). It is also busy with tourists looking for a beach destination for their summer break. Price for accommodations and tours might be higher than normal period, so book in advance for the best deal.

September is the beginning of the rainy season, the rainfall has increased compared to previous months. But there are still lots of sunny days, making it still a good month for visiting Quy Nhon. This month is less crowded than June and August.

October is a budget-friendly and quiet month to visit Quy Nhon, especially if you don’t mind the rain. This month, along with November, is the wettest month of the year.  Heavy rains, and tropical storms can occur, so keep an eye on the weather forecast if visiting the city during these months.

Similar to Otover, November receives the highest rainfall of the year. It is also the low tourist season in Quy Nhon, so you can benefit from affordable accommodations and less tourist crowds. 

Just keep in mind that heavy downpour, stormy winds, and strong waves on the sea can prevent you from exploring the islands. But you can explore cultural attractions and find nice places to eat in the city center.

December is the beginning of winter in Quy Nhon, the temperature is more comfortable, and the rain is less compared to its peak months of the monsoon season. Just be sure to bring a light jacket with you to keep you warm in the evening.

This is some brief information about the weather each month in Quy Nhon. Generally, you can visit Quy Nhon at any month of the year, but the best month is in the dry season from February to August. This time has minimal rainfall and lots of sunny days, so ideal for beaches and sightseeing.  

If you don’t mind the rain, you can find more affordable accommodations and quiet time in the rainy season (September to January). You still have plenty of sunny days for beaches, but be mindful that heavy rainfall and big waves can stop you from exploring the islands by boat. Also check the weather forecast especially in October and November as tropical storms can occur in these months.
