If you are from Australia, the United States, Canada, India, or any country that is not in the list of Vietnam visa exempted nations, you will need to apply for e-visa before arriving in Vietnam. In this guide, I will show you step by step how to fill out the form on the government’s official website.
Citizens of certain European countries, South Korea, or Japan who plan to stay in Vietnam for 45 days or fewer do not need to apply for a visa. Citizens from ASEAN countries who plan to stay in Vietnam for 14-30 days also do not need to apply for a visa. I’ll put details of countries for Vietnam visa exemption at the end of this article.
Vietnam E-Visa allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days. You can choose either a single entry or multiple entry option. The E-visa usually takes 3 working days to get approved or canceled. However, I recommend applying within two weeks before your arrival, just in case there are any issues with the system.
The fee for an e-visa to Vietnam is $25 for single entry and $50 for multiple entries. Please ensure that you fill out all information correctly and upload clear photos as per the requirements. If your photos are not clear enough or if your address in Vietnam is not detailed, they will email you to upload them again. You will then need to wait an additional 3 days for approval.
Once it is approved, and you notice a mistake, you will need to reapply for a visa as you did the first time. No modifications are permitted once it has been approved.
Before you fill out the form, you can prepare the photo of your passport and a photo of yourself (passport size). I use an iPhone and installed the Adobe Scan app (free version) to take a photo of the passport. For a photo, I use the ID Passport Photo Maker App (free version) to take a passport-size photo.
